August 6, 2004 - At least eight Montana ranches - all of them
certified "Undaunted Land Stewards" - will each feature a free,

grant from National Park Service July 31, 2004 - The nationally
unique Montana-based historic site and agricultural land preservation
program, Undaunted Stewardship®, has received a $20,000 grant

More Than 300 Square Miles of Private Rangeland Added

2004 - More than 300 square miles of privately-owned Montana
rangeland, from 20 different ranches around the state, have
now been added to the "certified" category of involvement in

Program preserves portage history Directions
June 17, 2005, Great Falls Tribune - Tourism and ranching leaders
were tickled Thursday at how well a major Lewis and Clark overlook
just south of Great Falls turned out. On a bluff above the green,
rolling Ayrshire Dairy, the site features six educational kiosks
on a gentle, half-block walk that spell out the importance of
the explorers' Upper Portage Camp just below.

Volunteer partnerships make program work
October 10, 2004, Billings Gazette - Former President Bill Clinton
and his secretary of the Interior, Bruce Babbitt, were the inspiration,
in a negative sort of way, for the Undaunted Stewardship® program.
Near the end of his second term, Clinton established several
national monuments, including the Missouri Breaks in Montana,
which had been suggested for such status by Babbitt. Read

Undaunted Stewardship® is a cooperative and multi-faceted program led by federal,
state and private sector agencies, seeking to ensure the long-term
maintenance of the environmental quality and economic productivity
of privately-owned agricultural landscapes, especially in areas
rich in history along the Lewis & Clark Trail in Montana.
